Palm tree Pindo fruit can be eaten fresh from the tree, most people chew it and spit out the fibre with the seed, and it is used to make jellies and jams, or fermented into wine.

How To Make Jelly From Jelly Palm Fruit

Things You’ll Need:

  • 6 to 8 cups of fresh Pindos 
  • 5 cups pinto / palm juice
  • Cooking pot
  • Cheesecloth
  • 1 lemon
  • 1 box fruit pectin
  • 5 cups sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. butter

Pour some palm fruit juice into a 6 or 8-quart saucepan. Stir pectin into juice until dissolved, add food colouring, and bring quickly to a hard boil, stirring occasionally. Add sugar all at once. Fill sterilised pint-sized canning jars halfway with jelly. Allow 5 to 10 minutes for the jelly to set. Place it in a cool and dry area of your kitchen. 

How Can You Know If A Palm Tree Is Jelly Palm?

The Pindo palm is a single-trunked, upright palm. The blue-grey fronds have an odd-pinnately compound structure, are eight to ten feet long, and are sharply curled toward the stem. The thorns on the petioles point toward the leaf tip. Make sure you ACTUALLY know it’s a pindo palm, or find someone that does. We are not responsible!

Can You Eat Queen Palm Fruits?

The dates are frequently too tall to be easily harvested from Queen Palm. Dates are aromatic and delicious, with a big seed that is sticky and fibrous. 

Normally, date meat is not eaten, but it is permissible. One just chews on the pulpy layer to remove the sugar, then spits out the fibre. Some people on the other hand enjoy fibre, yet it might induce belly aches in some people. Aside from being high in simple carbs, dates have antioxidant properties that are comparable to vitamin C.
